What is the Au Pair Program?
The Au Pair program is a cultural exchange program endorsed by the Department of State.
from the US that allows young people to live with an American family for a year,
helping with childcare and receiving multiple benefits.

With the Au Pair program, you will have the opportunity to become part of a household that welcomes you and includes you in its most special moments. You will leave a lasting mark on the childhoods of American children. You will improve your English, travel, explore, meet new people, and forge lifelong bonds—all while adding a unique international experience to your professional resume.
Student Profile
- Be between 18 and 26 years old.
- Intermediate English.
- Not be in the American residency process.
- Have at least 1,200 hours of
experience looking after children. - Intermediate or advanced level of English.
- Certificate of completed secondary education.
- Valid driver's license.
- Good physical and mental health.
- Must not be a smoker.
- Commit to living in the U.S.

- Complete the training in
32+ hour schedule.
Program objectives
The primary goal of the Au Pair program is to promote cultural exchange among young people.

maturity and responsibility in taking on the care of children in a new and challenging environment.
Another objective is to offer practical experience in childcare, allowing au pairs
actively support host families as they learn and strengthen their skills in this area

Responsibilities
- Prepare meals and school lunches
- Help with the bath and bedtime routine.
- Taking the children to school or activities
- Help with schoolwork

What does it include?
The cost of the program is US$1,350.00 Dollars.

What is not included
• Purchase of the consular appointment of USD$187.00 (the amount

• Transportation costs to the consulate on the day of your consular appointment (in the case of
the Northern Zone).
• Plan for an approximate budget of US$300–700 for additional expenses. Other additional costs may arise from the Dominican government (airport taxes) or the government.
